Stillaguamish honor salmon
It’s been so long. When the salmon grew sparse on their trek from the river to the ocean and back again, Stillaguamish tribal fishermen pulled their nets from the water. Without fishing, their culture suffers. But without salmon, there is no fishing. The only thing to do, according to the Stillaguamish Tribe, was to lay those nets to rest. Not for just one day, or one week, or one year. The tribe set aside its gear for an epoch — a generation.
