Yuchi Indians return to native Effingham


It's not much of a stretch to say it had been about 200 years since their people stepped foot on Georgia soil, let alone Effingham County. In fact, they were just a few of the 100,000 estimated Native Americans who were forced - at the hands of the U.S. government - to leave their native land in the early part of the 1800s and set out on foot for Indian Territory in present-day Oklahoma.
