Participants in The Longest Walk 3 - Reversing Diabetes 2011 will begin a 5,000-plus mile, five-month walk across America to heighten awareness of diabetes, especially in Indian Country, encouraging people to lead healthy lifestyles and maintain nutritious diets.

The walk across the southern states kicks off in La Jolla, Calif., Feb. 14, following a peace pipe ceremony, and ends in Washington D.C. on July 8, reported Buffalo’s Fire.

"Our goal is to advocate for major changes in our eating habits, while promoting beneficial exercise programs," state's the Arizona Facebook page promoting the event.
