Foxwoods Resort Casino and MGM Grand at Foxwoods’ slot revenue increased 6.3 percent to $45.1 million in December 2010 compared to December 2009, plus 1.2 percent increase in slot win, according to the casino’s Jan. 15 report to the Connecticut State Division of Special Revenue.

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation also reported paying $12 million to the State of Connecticut last month. Since slot machines were introduced at Foxwoods in January 1993, the tribe has now contributed $3.12 billion to the State of Connecticut.

“We are encouraged by December’s results and particularly the strong pace of business on New Year’s Eve,” said Mashantucket Pequot Gaming Enterprises (MPGE) President Scott Butera in a Business Wire press release. “We do, however, recognize that it is time for us to evolve as an enterprise and provide even more amenities and entertainment options that continue to appeal to our customers.”

News of Foxwoods’ success looms large above recent reports of Atlantic City’s declining slot revenue. The New Jersey-based resort casinos’ losses mark the 28th consecutive month they experienced a decline.
