Rodeo Season Begins in Cortez, Colorado
The Navajo Times reports that Garrison Begay has won his third all-around title for the All-Indian Rodeo Cowboy Association. The award was presented to the rodeo star who has been winning titles since his first, the Indian National Finals world title for calf-roping, in 1994.
Awards were given out for everything from bareback, bull riding, steer wrestling, tie down roping, ladies breakaway roping, and junior bull riding near the sacred Navajo mountain of Dibe Nitsaa, in Cortez Colorado.
The 54th All Indian Rodeo Cowboys Association will begin with indoor rodeos until April, when the weather eases and the outdoor competitions begin.
