Mashantucket Pequots’ Lake of Isles honored in Golfweek
MASHANTUCKET, Conn. -- The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation’s golf course has been named to two prestigious lists recently.
The Lake of Isles North Course was ranked No. 81 on Golfweek Magazine's Top 100 Resort Courses and No. 19 on its s 2010 Best Casino Courses list. This is the fifth consecutive year that the Lake of Isles course has appeared in the top rankings.

Lake of Isles was designed by Rees Jones, a renowned golf course architect whose awards include the 1998 Metropolitan Golf Association Distinguished Service Award, the 2002 Metropolitan Golf Writers Distinguished Service Award, Golf World Magazine's 1995 Golf Architect of the Year, The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America's Old Tom Morris Award in 2004, two architectural awards from the International Network of Golf, and the 2000 Robert Morris Award of the Welsh Society of Philadelphia. Jones is perennially listed on Golf Digest magazine’s top five architects.
Lake of Isles North Course is a public course with par-72, stretching over 7,300 yards from the championship tees. The course features rolling fairways, island tees and greens and extraordinary views blending with the natural landscape. The North Course is scheduled to open on April 1 for the 2011 season.
Lake of Isles opened in May 2005 and has two courses. The Private Course --the South Course -- has around 300 members. Among the many amenities members enjoy at Lake of Isles are the private dining room and locker room facilities and an active social and tournament calendar.
The courses wind their way through 900 acres of wooded Connecticut countryside and around a 90-acre lake. Lake of Isles is managed by Troon Golf, a worldwide leader in upscale golf course management, development & marketing. The facility includes a 50,000 sq. ft. clubhouse, and a state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor practice facility.
Lake of Isles has received rave reviews every year since its opening, receiving top ranked ratings in Golfweek, Golf World Magazine, and Golf Digest. It has been named Best in State by Golf Digest and the Lake of Isles Golf Shop has been named in the Top 100 Golf Shops by Golf World Magazine.
The golf courses are part of Foxwoods Resort Casino, the largest Indian gaming facility in the country. In addition to Foxwoods, which has more than 6,200 slot machines and 380 table games, the resort includes MGM Grand at Foxwoods with 825 guest rooms and 115,000 square feet of state-of-the-art meeting space, and the award winning Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center.
