TransCanada Former CEO to Head Alberta Oil Sands Panel
Hal Kvisle, who was TransCanada Corp.’s chief executive officer until last year, is one of the new leaders of the Alberta government’s new oil sands environmental monitoring panel, according to Reuters.
He is one of two people who will lead 12 experts in measuring the environmental impact of development efforts on the oil sands, Reuters reported Jan. 28. Howard Tennant, former president and vice-chancellor of the University of Lethbridge, will head the panel along with Kvisle, said Alberta Environment Minister Rob Renner.
Other members include Gregory Taylor, a biologist and dean of science at the University of Alberta; Ron Wallace, an environmental consultant; and David Pryce, a vice-president of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, Reuters said.
TransCanada is awaiting U.S. State Department approval to construct the Keystone XL Pipeline, the wire service said.
