Pokagon Band to Open Second Four Winds Casino Early
The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians is opening its second gaming facility, Four Winds Casino in Hartford, Michigan, earlier than anticipated. Last month, the tribe slated the casino's opening for October. Now the grand opening is moved to sometime in August, reported MLive.com.
"It is a good day to be a Pokagon," Chairman Matt Wesaw said at a press conference, reported WSBT-TV.
The 52,000-square-foot casino will feature 500 slot machines, nine table games, and a bar and restaurant, according to the casino's press release. The new gaming facility is about one-sixth the size of 3,000-slot machine Four Winds Casino in New Buffalo, Michigan, which opened in August 2007.
The Hartford location will employ about 300 people, and the band is planning a job fair to take place in approximately six weeks, the Kalamazoo Gazette reported. Check the Four Winds Casino's employment page for job postings in coming weeks.
The Kalamazoo Gazette also reported that at the press conference, Matt Harkness, the casino's general manager, hinted at potential expansion plans for Four Winds in New Buffalo.
