Huu-ay-aht First Nation—Abalone Project

APTN's environmental series Down2Earth profiles indigenous peoples' work in Canada and around the world as they combine contemporary training with their traditional knowledge to solve environmental issues affecting them and their territories. It has won a Canadian Environmental Media Award from the environmental consulting service Green Living Online, which will award the prize on April 16 at its Green Living Show in Toronto.

In this segment, tour an abalone hatchery run by the Huuayaht First Nation on the west coast of Vancouver Island; the Nation is working to preserve the endangered, over-harvested species.
