Farms and salmon will preside when congressional leaders descend on Antioch, California, on April 27 for the Farms & Salmon Summit to meet with farmers and fishermen about water use and other issues.

"Delta-dependent communities, jobs, and families are at stake in the tug of war over California’s water, along with our priceless heritage," the salmon-habitat advocacy group Salmon Water Now said in a statement. "The Farms & Salmon Summit will highlight the impact of water management decisions on Delta agriculture and salmon fishing, and solutions to restore a healthy Delta. Please join us to ask for the protection of Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta agriculture and restoration of the West’s iconic salmon run."

Representatives John Garamendi, Jackie Speier, Mike Thompson, Jerry McNerney, and other leaders, agricultural producers, sport and commercial salmon fishermen and businesses, agricultural and conservation groups, and salmon-and-Delta lovers will participate. The purpose of the Farms & Salmon Summit is to bring attention to Delta-dependent farming and fishing communities, and to provide a forum to discuss long term solutions to California’s water woes.

The event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Antioch Community Center, 4703 Lone Tree Way, Antioch, CA. There is ample free public parking at the center.

The event will include a free Delta Bounty Reception hosted by Coastside Fishing Club Grill Crew, Guisti’s Place, McCormack Ranch, and Rivermaid Trading Company.
