NMAI’s 2011 Indian Summer Showcase Kicks Off with Concert on Saturday
On June 11, from 5-7 PM, three acclaimed Native recording artists will play a free concert at the Welcome Plaza outside the main entrance to the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, DC. The performers are among the best in the country music genre: Victoria Blackie (Navajo), Rebecca Miller (Six Nations, Ontario, Canada), and Becky Hobbs (Cherokee).
From Wednesday, June 22, through Saturday, June 25, the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma will celebrate its heritage with numerous activities, including workshops, dancing, storytelling, and stickball games. And there will be plenty of traditional Choctaw food on offer as well. The event will run from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM for all four days.
