LEO A DALY Hires Navajo as Market Leader for Indian Projects
LEO A DALY's Phoenix, Arizona-based office hired Navajo Nation member Dan Lewis to focus on the architecture, planning, engineering, interior design and program management firm's tribal community and economic development projects.
In his role at LEO A DALY, which employs about 1,000 people in 31 offices worldwide, Lewis will be responsible for leading the firm’s business development efforts in healthcare, education, gaming and entertainment, sports and assembly, museums, cultural centers and retail.
Lewis claims nearly three decades of experience in both the public and private sector. Early in his career, he worked in Washington, D.C., as the minority staff director for the U.S. Senate Committee on Indian Affairs. He then served as senior vice president for Bank of America, which became a predominant lender in Indian country and manager of tribal investments under his leadership.
“My passion has been to dedicate my talents to improving the lives of native peoples and to enhancing the ability of tribal governments for greater self-governance,” Lewis said in a statement. “I look forward to differentiating LEO A DALY as a reliable and effective partner that can help our tribal clients achieve their goals and objectives with exceptional results.”
LEO A DALY's Phoenix office, which opened in 1988, has assisted 30 Indian tribes with various economic endeavors and has completed more than 40 projects on sovereign lands.
Most recently, the firm designed additions to the Pascua Yaqui Tribe’s Casino del Sol resort in Tucson, Arizona. The Pascua Yaqui Tribe will commemorate its 10th anniversary and its new additions with a dome lighting on July 3. Final completion of the entire project is expected in November.
Other prominent tribal projects completed by LEO A DALY include the Sandia Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Health Center in Sisseton, South Dakota; Reno-Sparks Indian Colony Tribal Health Center in Reno, Nevada; Sky Ute Casino Resort in Ignacio, Colorado; Meskwaki Settlement High School in Tama, Iowa; NuWu Casino in Twentynine Palms, California; and the National Indian Gaming Association Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
The firm supports the American Indian community through many initiatives including the LEO A DALY scholarship fund for the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas.
Lewis is a member of the National Native American Advisory Committee for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and a member of the Phoenix Seminary’s board of directors.
