Cherokee Nation Industries (CNI) recently earned a Gold Status rating—the highest rating given to a vendor—from The Boeing Company ("Boeing") for the work force's superior performance and on-time delivery.

CNI has operated as a government contractor manufacturing and distributing aerospace and defense products since 1969. Its aerospace and defense division runs out of 120,000-plus square feet of expandable manufacturing space in Stilwell, Oklahoma and employs 150 people—including 70 employees who worked on projects for Boeing.

The Gold Status rating reflects the employees’ quality workmanship and ability to meet or exceed delivery deadlines. A recent project for Boeing called for last minute design changes to the CNI-manufactured cable assemblies. Employees coordinated the changes with Boeing, while meeting the tight time schedule for delivery.

“Even with all the changes, they managed to keep the project on schedule and up to the standards we’ve set at CNI," said Marlene Eagle, CNI customer service manager, in a statement. "We realize how important our products are to our customers and take pride in the work coming out of Stilwell.”

CNI team leader Felix “Junior” Ross, an employee of CNI since 1969, credits his staff: “This is a great reward for all the employees,” Ross said of Boeing’s recognition. “They deserve a lot of credit for the hard work they do every day here. Everyone here knows that our products have to be the highest quality for our customers.”

CNI was established in 1969 to serve as the economic and workforce arm for the Cherokee Nation. Recently, CNI moved into the telecommunications and services industries, running the Tahlequah, Oklahoma-based Cherokee Nation Telecommunications.
