TribalNet Seeks Applicants and Nominations for 2011 Tribal Technology Leadership Award
Each year TribalNet, a resource for technology professionals in the American Indian industry, honors information technology (IT) leaders and teams from tribes and Indian casinos throughout the nation with its prestigious Tribal Technology Leadership Award.
In 2011, the Tribal Technology Leadership Award will be granted to two recipients during the 12th Annual TribalNet Conference from November 14-17 at Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Applicants will be judged within categorized groups instead of by the entire industry. More awards will be given to IT teams with eight or less people and those with nine or more people. “In 2010 we received such an array of applications and recommendations that we decided to categorize the nominees by size in order to better evaluate skills and accomplishments of teams in a more relative manner," explained Shannon Bouschor, director of TribalNet. "TribalNet wants to encourage IT departments of all sizes to apply to be awarded this great honor without hesitation."
According to a TribalNet press release, the Tribal Technology Leadership Award is given to an IT team that has demonstrated leadership through the effective implementation, integration, and use of technology at their tribal organization and/or casino. Any team representing leadership qualities and excellence in this capacity at a tribal organization is eligible for this honor. The honoree is selected by a committee of industry representatives.
Applications for recommendations for the Tribal Technology Leadership Award can be found online at http://www.tribalnetonline.com/peernetworking.php#leadershipaward. Applications must be completed and submitted by September 30, 2011 to be considered.
The 2010 awards named two winners for the first time. The Viejas Information Technology Services Team accepted the prestigious award, and an honorable mention award was given to the Trinidad Rancheria IT Department. As a small crew, of three individuals, the Viejas Information Technology Services Team had completely restructured their IT system forming a department that saves the tribe money while improving efficiencies.
