Gov. Martinez to Meet with Tribal Leaders Monday
In what will be her first meeting with tribal leaders since she took office, Gov. Susana Martinez will hold the first tribal state summit on August 29.
Martinez will hold the summit with New Mexico Indian tribe leaders and pueblo leaders at the Pojoaque Pueblo’s resort hotel and casino.
The summit will feature sessions on education, tribal economic development and infrastructure, health care and natural resources and water according to an article in The Republic.
"The governor appreciates the opportunity to interact with leaders from our tribal communities and work in a collaborative way on key challenges, such as raising student achievement and improving health outcomes among Native Americans," Darnell said in an email to the Associated Press.
