Larry Echo Hawk Visits Red Lake Juvenile Detention Center
Assistant Secretary of Indian Affairs Larry Echo Hawk and his staff toured the Red Lake Juvenile Detention Center in Redlake Minnesota on August 10.
The facility that was built six years ago has yet to be put into use and is currently seeking funding to open the facility.
“The youth are the future of Indian country and it is of great concern to us when we see young people going off track and getting involved in the justice system, we like to see rehabilitative efforts made to be able to get them on the right track and that sounds like what they are most interested in doing at Red Lake,” Echo Hawk said in this clip from the Lakeland News at Ten program on August 10.
