Standing with Amazon’s Indigenous Peoples

A new video posted by Amazon Watch on September 29, shares the fights of the Indigenous Peoples of the Amazon regions in Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia.

The video touches on all the threats that are affecting these indigenous communities from oil exploration to cattle grazing and deforestation. The video states deforestation in the Amazon releases more carbon dioxide than United States automobiles.

The video states the Amazon Rainforest generates a full fifth of the world’s oxygen and fresh water. It also describes how there are many species of animals, plants and insects that are yet to be discovered and could hold the key to a cure for cancer and AIDS.
