What are your weekend plans?

Here at Indian Country Today Media Network, we like a little pow wow action in our weekends.  We’ve put together a little list of some pow wows that are taking place this weekend all around the country.  So if you’ve got some time on your hands for tasty food, lively music, vibrant dances and stunning art, these are the events for you.

99th Annual Cherokee Indian Fair, North Carolina

When & Where: October 4 - October 8 at the Cherokee Indian Fairgrounds in Cherokee, North Carolina. The 99th Annual Cherokee Indian Fair will be a fun-filled weekend with festivities including live performances from The Charlie Daniels Bands, Hoop Dancer Tony Duncan and more, carnival rides, traditional competitions and dances, sporting events, and so much more. Admission: General Admission $10; Children 6 and under are Free

Cherokee of Georgia Fall Powwow, Georgia

When & Where: October 6 - October 8 in St. George, Georgia. The fun begins Friday at 9 a.m. with Master of Ceremonies Tye Bell. Festivities include social dancing, storytelling, flute playing and making, Princess Pageant, traditional American Indian food, access to The Cherokee of Georgia Tribal Library and Cultural Center, and so much more. San Manuel Pow Wow, California

When & Where: October 7 - October 9 at California State University in San Bernardino, California. Hosted by the San Manuel Band of Serrano Mission Indians, the event will focus around the Round Dance Competitions offering contestants more than $250,000 in prizes. Competition categories include Men Dance, Women Dance, San Manuel Sweetheart Dance, and Drum. For more information about this event, click here.

13th Annual Rappahannock Pow Wow, Virginia

When & Where: October 8 in Indian Neck, Virginia. The day will be filled with pow wow dancing, Native crafts, food, history, and a Woodland village scene. Festivities begin at 10 a.m. For more information on the event, click here.
