What are your weekend plans?

Here at Indian Country Today Media Network, we like a little pow wow action in our weekends.  We’ve put together a little list of some pow wows that are taking place this weekend all around the country.  So if you’ve got some time on your hands for tasty food, lively music, vibrant dances and stunning art, these are the events for you.

Choctaw Casino Resort Powwow, Oklahoma

When & Where: November 26th at the Choctaw Even Center in Durant, Oklahoma. Saturday’s festivities begin at 10am where powwow dancers and drummers alike will be competing for more than $70,000 in prize money. In its 7th year, the Choctaw Casino Resort Powwow will be celebrating Native American culture and traditions by filling the day with authentic Native arts and crafts as well foods like Indian Tacos. 3rd Annual Lipan Apache Thanksgiving Memorial Pow Wow, Texas

When & Where: November 26th at the Jim Wells Fair Grounds in Alice, Texas. Gates will open at 10am on Saturday, immediately a round of gourd dancing at 10:30am and the grand entry will start at 12:30pm. Your Powwow MC will be Erwin Deluna from San Antonio, Texas. Native American Month Social and Indian Craft Market, Arizona

When & Where: November 25th- 26th at the Sheraton Hotel in Tucson, Arizona. According to its website, the Native American Month Social and Indian Craft Market invites its guests to “experience the life and history of several Indian nations at this event educating the public on American Indian culture and discover a culture richness that rivals anything from this continent. Be sure to bring your cameras and chairs.” There will be dancers from multiple tribes, 40 authentic native craft and food booths, and a children’s activity area. 32nd Chambers Farm Fall Gathering, Florida

When & Where: November 24th – 27th at Chambers Farm in Fort McCoy, Florida. With Master of Ceremonies Rick Bird leading the way, this powwow will be filled with traditional gourd and intertribal dancing. Your Host Drummer will be Billy Evans Horse and your Head Dancers will be announced day of. For more information about this event, click here.
