United Auburn Indian Community Reelects Tribal Council Members
On December 10, The United Auburn Indian Community voted to reelect tribal council members Kim Dubach and Brenda Conway following a feud and failed recall according to a report at The Sacramento Bee.
Former Chairwoman Jessica Tavares and tribal elder Dolly Suehead, who were banished members of the tribe, were unsuccessful in their effort in unseating the two council members as Dubach and Conway won with 58 percent of the votes.
The Sacramento Bee reports that Tavares and Suehead were among six members who were ordered banished from the tribe for up to 10 years and stripped of monthly casino payments after an attempt to recall the full tribal council.
