13 Native Entrepreneurs Graduate From SBA’s ‘Emerging 200’ Program
SEATTLE — Thirteen Native-owned or managed businesses have graduated from a Small Business Administration program designed to help them succeed.
For 26 weeks, participants received classroom instruction in small-business management, engaged in peer mentoring sessions and established relationships with other businesses.
This is the second class in Washington state to participate in Emerging 200, or e200 (www.sba.gov/e200), for businesses in Native communities: American Preparedness, B.B. Contracting, Inc., Bear Creek Tile and Stone Co., Brown Toes LLC, Eldred & Associates, Harman Builders & Development, MyTribe TV, NATECH, Paladin General Contractors LLC, Puget Sound Utilities LLC, Shotridge Studios, Terra Firma II, Womer & Associates, Inc.
“SBA’s expansion of e200 to new urban markets and Native American communities this year has made this valuable training accessible to more promising entrepreneurs than ever,” Seattle SBA district director Nancy Porzio said. “The training, mentorship and resources that these small businesses have received over the past 26 weeks will help them take their businesses to the next level.”
SBA regional administrator Calvin Goings said the e200 Emerging Leaders initiative has helped more than 900 small-business owners across the country grow their businesses since 2008.
“This initiative for entrepreneurs in traditionally underserved markets has been a catalyst for expanding opportunities for both urban small-business owners and a new emphasis on Native American communities.”
