The Pocasset Pokanoket Tribe has made an agreement to establish a traumatic brain injury (TBI) clinic with Dr. Heechin Chae, chief of the Traumatic Brain Injury Department at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital in Virginia.

Dr. Chae has lead a frontier of new TBI treatments for patients with new and existing injuries with successful outcomes as medical director at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts from 2008 to 2011. Dr. Chae often treats soldiers, veterans, caregivers and families of the U.S. armed forces, as well as athletes.

Beginning in southeastern Massachusetts, the Pocassets intend to open post acute rehabilitation clinics for TBI patients, introducing a new and innovative interdisciplinary low tech/high touch/high repetition approach to rehabilitation. The clinics will support 100 patients and be located near and around major population centers.
