Rapper Jim Jones Arrested After Diddy's Foxwoods Party
In honor of Foxwoods Resort Casino's 20th anniversary, Sean "Diddy" Combs hosted "The Platinum Party" at the MGM Grand Premier Ballroom—complete with DJs from New York and Boston spinning music, VIP seating, bottle service, projection screens, dancers and aerialists.
Rapper Jim Jones attended as a "celebrity guest."
But coverage of the entertaining event was eclipsed by a brawl that broke out between at least five people at 2 a.m. in the foyer of the MGM Grand casino, reported The Huffington Post. Connecticut police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance said he did not know what instigated the altercation.
Jones, a hip-hop artist widely known for the 2007 hit "We Fly High" and a member of the Harlem-based rap group the Diplomats, allegedly assaulted an officer. He has been charged with resisting arrest and breach of peace, Vance told The Huffington Post. Four others were arrested and charged for inciting to riot.
A state police detective who tried to break up the fight was treated for minor injuries at a hospital. He has since been released, police said.
On Twitter, Jones announced that he posted $40,000 in bond. Later on Saturday he tweeted, "This is gettin blown way out of proportion." On Sunday, he wrote: "We all make mistakes thts why there is a forgiven God pray for me AMEN."
The incident was not Jones' first brush with the law. In 2009, he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge for punching one of R&B artist Ne-Yo's friends at a Louis Vuitton boutique.
