Jody Reece Named Controller for Cherokee Nation


Jody Reece was recently announced as the Cherokee Nation’s new controller. Reece will manage the tribe’s finances in his third stint in tribal government.

“Mr. Reece has more than 20 years of financial experience, both in the private sector and in tribal government,” said Principal Chief Bill John Baker in a press release. “The Cherokee Nation will greatly benefit from his talents and expertise.”

Reece, of Muldrow, is a Cherokee citizen who was raised in Webbers Falls. He has a degree in accounting from Northeastern State University and is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor and a Certified Management Accountant.

Reece worked with the Nation from 1991 to 1997, working his way up from accountant to controller; then again from 1998 to 1999 as director of grants administrations and land management. He has 15 years of experience in private industry.

“I’m just happy to be back with the tribe and serve the people,” Reece said.
