LeBron James and the Miami Heat take Game Three from Oklahoma City Thunder
The Miami Heat are now in the same position they were in last year, hoping for much different Finals results, however.
Having bested the Thunder91-85 at home, the Heat lead the series 2 games to 1, just as they did last year before losing three straight to the Dallas Mavericks. LeBron James scored 29 points and Dwayne Wayne notched 25. The Heat once again had to hold off a Thunder comeback late in the game to get the win, managing an 8-0 scoring run with a little less than four minutes left to hold onto the win.
“It was good to see us execute down the stretch, but more importantly it was great to see that we were able to get stops,” James said in a televised interview. “That’s where the game is won and we did that.”
Kevin Durant scored 25 points for the Thunder, with point guard Russell Westbrook adding 19. Westbrook missed a chance to tie the game with a 3-pointer with 29 seconds remaining. Once again the Heat were excellent from the free throw line, where they made 31 of 35, helping them cement the win. The Thunder had pulled to within one point with 1:30 left on the clock after a 17-foot jumper by Westbrook, but Miami's crack shooting from the free throw line (they made 25 of their last 27) proved to be the Thunder's undoing.
The next game is tomorrow night in Miami at 9 p.m. EST.
