Paula Deen Lost 30 Pounds in Six Months, Y'all
"The architecture of my plate has changed," Deen, 65, told People magazine, “I double up on greens—whether it's salad or vegetables—and my carbs are just a spoonful."
Since publicly announcing in January that she was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes more than three years ago, Paula Deen has changed her mantra from "Heck, you could throw just about anything into a mix of butter and sugar and it would taste like heaven," to one rooted in moderation and awareness.
Her slim-down strategy follows the basic healthy eating rules of thumb. She's ditched mashed potatoes and developed a new affinity for baked fish and Greek salads. She also walks 30 minutes a day, but has yet to find exercising "addictive," she told People. "So far, it's not like cigarettes." Deen still lights up, but she has indicated that quitting smoking is the next step on her get-healthy agenda.
In the past six months, Deen has shed 30 pounds, and she aims to drop 15 more. "If you make a few small changes, they can add up to big results," she told People.
