Kyle Lohse, Nomlaki Wintum, is having a stellar season for the defending World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals. Going into tonight's game against the Houston Astros, Lohse is 12-2 with a 2.61 ERA.

The 33-year old right hander from Chico, California has become a star pitcher for the Cards, after having a very solid 2011 campaign where he notched 14-wins in their championship season. Lohse has been in the league since 2001 and amassed a 114-108 record in that span. He's never had a lower ERA, and has already thrown 101 strikeouts to go along with his .857 winning percentage.

The Cardinals are in the wild card hunt, and need Lohse to continue pitching the way he is if they want a legitimate shot at making another run through the playoffs.

The Astros have their work cut out for them tonight facing this Native star. Since losing to the Kansas City Royals on June 15, Lohse has gone 6-0 with a 2.18 ERA in his last 11 starts. In his last three starts, Lohse has allowed just one run, 12 hits and struck out 18.

"We keep saying the same thing over and over, but we've been very impressed with just how he comes out and makes his pitches," manager Mike Matheny told the Cardinals' official website. "He gets into a position for us to win."
