Pat Rogers resigned from Modrall Sperling August 31 due to the fallout of his support for Lt. Col. George Custer.

Custer-Friendly RNC Official Resigns from Law Firm

Pat Rogers, the Republican National Committee (RNC) executive committee member who said that Lt. Col. George Armstrong Custer was “dishonored” when Republican New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez met with tribal leaders, has been forced to resign from his law firm.

Pressure had been mounting on both Rogers and the firm, Modrall Sperling, since August 24 when Rogers’ pro-Custer statements he wrote in a personal e-mail to the governor’s staff were publicized by liberal advocacy organizations.

In a statement, firm president R.E. Thompson, said that he accepted Rogers’ resignation on August 31.

"Recent revelations of private e-mail communications have distracted from our mission, and Pat Rogers has tendered his resignation from the Firm," Thompson said.

Rogers’ words have also been a distraction for top Republicans, who are trying this election season to portray themselves as a big-tent party. Still, Rogers remains in his position at the RNC, despite calls from American Indians and others for his dismissal.

“The state is going to hell,” Rogers wrote in part of his now infamous e-mail, referring to Martinez’ tribal meeting. “Col. [Allen] Weh would not have dishonored Col. Custer in this manner.” Weh was a Republican candidate for governor of New Mexico who unsuccessfully ran against Martinez in 2010, and he has also denounced Rogers’ words, as has Martinez. Weh is a retired U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Colonel.

Rogers told the Albuquerque Journal that he resigned “with great sadness,” and he previously told the newspaper that his e-mail was meant to be a joke.

In July, Rogers was also forced to resign from the board of a state group, the New Mexico Foundation for Open Government, after his role in another e-mail scandal was investigated. He had been criticized for using personal e-mail accounts to contact state government officials attempting to influence their decision-making–a practice that carries questions under state law.

American Indians have generally been pleased to learn of his resignation from the firm, but some think the RNC must take action, too.

“I do think the RNC should show some respect to Native Americans and [show] that they take our issues seriously by asking him to resign, especially after coming out with that platform ‘Honoring Our Relationship with American Indians,’” said Rhonda LeValdo-Gayton, the Acoma Pueblo president of the Native American Journalists Association. “If they don't, that goes directly against what that platform stands for.”

Collectively asking for the white Rogers guy to resign with ties to “RNC” is okay (I guess), but NOW why not DEMAND just cause to something more living and relevant! In the assassination killing take out of “Geronimo” or “Osama Bin Laden”, was a 2011 formal US apology ever made by the Defense Dept (the “US Department of War”) to the Fort Sill Apache Nation OR at the very least to living family descendants of Geronimo? Considering the “Great Black Father” side-stepped his leader role and punted the ball to his “War Department“, the codename fiasco is a LIVING-BREATHING grievous insult to Fort Sill Apaches, those living direct family members, and true American Indian supporters. What ‘ramifications’ were presented by these “self-appointed advocates” to receiving NO White House apology or directly clarifying how “Geronimo” was used in the mission to kill take out? Was anybody in White House or Defense Dept asked to step down or resign? Did any of these “advocates” demand clarifying rationale on behalf of their claimed representative cause, i.e. American Indians? If the White House were Republican AND the President were a white guy, would the call THEN for resignations/investigations be loud and forceful from these “advocates”? If RESPECT is what is being called out from the RNC (Custer), then shouldn’t RESPECT be as qualified and obligatory from the Democratic National Committee DNC (Osama Bin Laden “Geronimo”) (Considering the Obama Administration doesn’t return requests). Ms. LeValdo-Gayton’s words ARE JUST AS APPLICABLE with the DNC’s platform of “tribal sovereignty” with American Indians. Otherwise, ….“If they don’t, that goes directly against what that platform stands for.” On a side note - will these appointed “advocates” furthermore pursue the truth behind Democrat Elizabeth Warren’s claims to her “indian heritage” at the DNC convention? Will these “advocates” support the small contingent of indian representatives at the DNC seeking to verify the Warren claims and be just as ADAMENT to the R-E-S-P-E-C-T for anything deemed “indian”? Custer was a complicated character, even as a Democrat and even as an Officer called to testify before Congress of Custer’s claim of corruption in the War Department involving Indian agencies and Indian resources.

The more you read about Custer who slaughtered my Tribe and took hostage the women and children some who became his sex slaves, you see a man who did not respect woman by treating them like cattle. He was also, suppose to be impotent because he had syphillis during his war time adventures. Some say he took Native American women as trophies for their sexual prowess stating that before the battle of the Little Bighorn he had taken a Cheyenne Women to bed but he had always wanted a Choctaw women. He must have had a sexual addiction because he was married to Libby Custer since he got out of West Point.

The indigenous are forced to watch white America celebrate Christopher Columbus, famed lost slaver, rapist and mass murderer who died from syphillis, with a gaping hole where his nose used to be. We are forced to celebrate Thanksgiving Day, to celebrate the Indigenous and whites first get together after the Indigenous had saved the Pilgrims from starvation. What is not said in the white controlled history curriculems is that.. Three years after the first Thanksgiving celebration, CAptain miles Standish and his henchmen lured the Indigenous chiefs into a blockhouse under the ruse of a meeting with them. After the chiefs were in the blockhouse, the windows and doors where shut and bolted. The chiefs were run through with swords and shot. The survivors were hung by their necks from the rafters. How's that for the Pilgrims thanking the Indigenous for saving their butts from starvation. It's sad that a manipulate history is taught in schools. It's really sadder that our leaders don't read up on the colonial history of this country to empower their thinking and decision making.

East vs West. This how you,the Native Americans got caught in the situation, and even white supremacists admit on their websites this is one of their main reasons for acting as they do. Asian Americans who still know about old country history, like Marco Polo, who's writings goaded Columbus to cause this Holocaust on you. As the Romans before them-I should know, I'm from the Russian Federation, a Tatar from the Urals originally-many of us live in Cali. There was no way to let you know about world politics in the 1400's, and we who know about Native Americans can vouch for the fact that nothing wrong in the world today is your fault. Plus the world owes YOU a debt, for inventing personaland political freedom as evidence in the Constitution/Bill of Rights. Worse yet there are elements here and overseas that will take this all away,if they are not stopped NOW. Just look at spitfirelist .com/ stevequayle.com/nativenewsnetwork.com/kommersantdaily.com/russiatoday.com/eunews.com,for starters. Gideon Rachman says a global government is anti-democraticand must be,in order to function. Google these words, and it comes up. The financial collapse was engineered by Bush #2 who says the Constitution is a g/d piece of paper-google that, too. We Eastern Bloc "kids" wondered WHY he put all these anti-freedom laws in place after 9/11,and yelled,"what the hell is wrong with the USA?!!"
