On September 13 in honor of its 21st anniversary, Viejas Casino—owned and operated by the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians in Alpine, California, just east of San Diego—will attempt to set a new Guinness Record for the world’s largest blackjack table.

Construction of the massive blackjack table is underway. The 60' x 36' table will be placed inside the DreamCatcher lounge at Viejas Casino.

Six players will play a hand of blackjack witnessed by an official Guinness adjudicator flown in from London exclusively to certify the world record. Each player will use duplicate blackjack chips that are exactly ten times the size of the actual chips. The dealer, who will stand on the table for the record-setting game, will use a duplicate set of Viejas Casino blackjack cards, which will be exactly ten times the size of the actual cards.

“Since the day Viejas Casino opened in 1991, we’ve offered our guests the best, most exciting variety of table games, slots, poker, bingo and more,” said Viejas Casino General Manager Chris Kelley. “Setting a new Guinness Record for the Largest Blackjack Table, and then letting our guests play at the table and share in the excitement, continues Viejas Casino’s commitment to innovation and guest service.”

The new Guinness Record is expected to be set at approximately 9 a.m. on Thursday, September 13. Immediately after the record is certified, V Club members will be offered a free opportunity to play a hand of blackjack at the table and enter a drawing for their share of a $21,000 cash prize, which will take place at 9 p.m.

The public is invited to attend a 21st Anniversary Celebration at the V Lounge at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 14, complete with free cake, music and entertainment.
