A Number of Tribal Colleges and Universities Offer Criminal Justice Programs

United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, North Dakota offers associate of applied science and bachelor of science degrees in criminal justice. The school’s high-tech simulator lets students act out real-life shooting and hostage situations with a “gun” that recoils when it fires CO2 cartridges. The simulator can also teach students how to handle investigations and evidence collection.

Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College in Cloquet, Minnesota offers associate of applied science and associate of science degrees in law enforcement, as well as an associate of applied science in e-crime, an emerging career field that combines technology and law enforcement.

Leech Lake Tribal College in Cass Lake, Minnesota offers an associate of applied science degree in law enforcement, allowing students to enter the job market.

Sitting Bull College in Fort Yates, North Dakota offers an associate of science degree that enables students to enter a four-year institution or a career in the criminal justice system.

Turtle Mountain Community College in Belcourt, North Dakota offers an associate of arts degree designed to springboard students into a four-year program.

The College of Menominee Nation in Keshena, Wisconsin offers a certificate of mastery in criminal justice allowing students to complete one year of study there and then transfer to Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, Wisconsin to pursue an associate’s degree.

• The College of the Muscogee Nation in Okmulgee, Oklahoma offers an associate of applied science degree in police science that teaches students about tribal law enforcement.
