The Squamish Nation and Lil'wat Nation have coexisted respectfully as neighbors since time immemorial. This weekend, at the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Center in Whistler, British Columbia, come celebrate their and all First Nations culture. As your guide, the cultural center's guest services coordinator, Josh Anderson (Sik Sik), has been kind enough to provide ICTMN with a "Top 5" list of  highlights for this spectacular weekend, September 28-30.

"We will be making this a huge annual event that will be taking place around this time every year!! (Our first large full scale event that we will be producing all in-house: catering our own in-house traditional food & beverage).
We will be hosting an Artist’s Market in our Istken Hall during our regular opening hours from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., which is then turned into an Urban Lounge in the evening where we will be showcasing up and coming artists such as Hip Hop, DJ’s and First Nations Style infused Fashion.
We did a call-out to all of the Aboriginal Youth Ambassadors to come join us for a special presentation from hip hop artist, actor & now inspirational speaker Litefoot. (We have had over 300 Youth graduate from the AYA program)!!
We are hosting artist demonstrations, blessings & cultural performances from a variety of different groups that will be taking place during the day in the Heart of Whistler (Outdoor free event in Village Square).
We have four key Salish style performers that will be taking place this evening, our headliner for this evening will be the Dancers of the Damelahamid, Our 3 time World Champion Hoop Dancer from Lil’wat Nation – Alex Wells, Our group from Squamish Nation – Spakwus Slulem (Eagle Dance Song) & Kalan Wi from the Lil’wat Nation (A New group with Reggae music mixed in with the traditional Lil’wat songs). It’s going to be a total of 90 minutes of performances from these four different performers that will all take place during the main Festivities of the evening."
