Ready! Set! POWWOW!!

We've put together a list of a few awesome powwows happening all across the nation this weekend just for you!

If one of these exciting events is located near you, we recommend heading over to enjoy some lively dancing and drumming, thrilling musical performances, and delicious, authentic foods!

Third Annual Festival of Native American Culture, Arizona

When & Where: September 29th – 30th at the Camp Verde Community Center in Camp Verde, Arizona.

Festivities begin each day 10AM and close at 4PM. The annual festival holds 70 Native American artists from Arizona and throughout the Southwest. According to their website, “The event promotes greater public appreciation and understanding of Southwest American Indian artistry, encourages artistic achievement in a variety of media and establishes a stronger market for American Indian art.” Admission is free. Council of Three Rivers American Indian Center 34th Annual Pow Wow, Pennsylvania

When & Where: September 29th – 30th at the Council of Three Rivers American Indian Center on the 23rd Acre Site in Dorseyville, Pennsylvania.

In their 34th year the Council of Three Rivers know how to throw a great powwow! Festivities begin at 12PM each day. Visitors will enjoy the authentic Native American singing, dancing, arts, and delicious foods! Admission is free but the Council does request that adults offer a $6 donation. 21th Annual Comanche Nation Fair, Oklahoma

When & Where: September 28th – 30th at the Comanche Nation Complex Ground in Lawton, Oklahoma.

This year’s theme for the Comanche Nation Fair is “Honoring Our Comanche Artists.” Festivities will include several competitions and tournaments such as an art show, skateboarding, horseshoe, basketball, and softball. For the noncompetitive powwow goer there will be a music festival, spirit walk, quilt show, fun run, and more! For more information about this event, click here.

Spirit Within Festival, British Columbia, Canada

When & Where: September 28th – 30th at the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada.

The Spirirt Within Festival will begin at 2PM Friday afternoon with a complimentary workshop from painter Joan Baron. Festivities throughout the weekend will include a salmon barbeque, First Nations artists market, and a variety of workshops and demonstrations. For more information, click here.
