JOB: Eastern Washington University Seeks Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Statistics or Applied Mathematics
The Department of Mathematics in the College of Science, Health & Engineering at Eastern Washington University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Statistics or Applied Mathematics located on our Cheney Campus to begin September 2013 or earlier.
The Department of Mathematics offers B.A. degree in Mathematics with an Option in Computer Science, Economics or Statistics as well as a B.A.E. in Secondary and in Elementary Mathematics Education. A Graduate Certificate for Middle-Level Mathematics Endorsement is also offered. The department currently consists of 12 tenured or tenure-track faculty , 10 lecturers and an office manager.
Responsibilities will include teaching and curriculum development at the undergraduate level and active participation in scholarly and service activities.

In addition to Eastern's Cheney campus, we also offer our Riverpoint campus in Spokane, as well as additional teaching/learning centers located in other cities throughout Washington State. o Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics/ Statistics or closely related field must be conferred no later than the date of appointment (09/15/2013).
o Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching Mathematics classes depending on the Department needs, and advanced courses in the applicant's area of specialization; to meet this qualification, candidates must offer both of the following:
> College level teaching experience in Mathematics or Statistics, and
> Demonstrated expertise in teaching reasoning courses and Calculus at elementary and advanced levels.
o Demonstrated potential for scholarship.
o Additionally, candidates should offer experience and/or interest in promoting cultural competency and/or diversity.
Preference may be given to candidates who offer more experience in any of the following:
o Prior teaching experience in Mathematics at the college level beyond that gained as a graduate assistant.
o Experience and interest in mentoring undergraduate students
