Two Row Wampum Campaign Will Kick Off in 2013

The Two Row Wampum Renewal Campaign, a partnership between the Onondaga Nation and Neighbors of the Onondaga Nation (NOON), will open at Syracuse Stage on February 11.

The new year will mark the 400th anniversary of the first treaty between the Haudenosaunee and European settlers. The Renewal Campaign seeks to remind us all of the promises the Haudenosaunee and the Europeans made to each other with the treaty, which was recorded on the Two Row Wampum Belt. While the Haudenosaunee have largely kept their end of the bargain, and have sought to remind the governments of the United States and Canada that they need to be better stewards of the land, those governments have not performed quite so well. On the Renewal Campaign website, the group acknowledges three shortcomings:

• We have repeatedly broken international treaties and written laws to justify and conceal these unjust actions.

• We have forced coercive and unjust policies on our neighbors, usually aimed at further reducing Native Nations’ sovereignty while appropriating more of their lands and resources.

• We have—through governmental, economic, industrial, and social policies and practices—sullied our shared environmental inheritance and committed too few resources to restoring them.

Following the February 11 kickoff, the Renewal Campaign will hold several events in the spring, leading up to a June 21 enactment paddle across Onondaga Lake, and then a paddle down the Hudson River lasting from July 29 to August 9 and described as the "centerpiece" of the Campaign.

by bringing it form tribal members you are creating a invaild contract to renew two row. two row was in placed to let us live our lifes under the great law wich was violated threw a pass threw congress in 1924 stating all members of tribal membership were granted nation citizenship due to a case in 1916 of adultry with indians being involved there for our two row was violated then a many times and the agreement was that they had to leave if they could not leave in peace with each other hence the planting of their peace tree in philli P.A you cant use tribalmembership when we are not suepose to have any type of governance over us we are the orignial law and if you dont see that is how they have had athouriy over us by use following their suit
