First Annual Lori Piestewa Memorial Gourd Dance Honors Warriors

On Friday, March 22, at the Kroc Corps Salvation Army Community Center in Phoenix, Arizona, the first annual Lori Piestewa Memorial Gourd Dance will be held. The event will honor all fallen heroes.
U.S. Army Private First Class Lori Piestewa, Hopi, was killed in action on March 23, 2003 in Iraq. She and other members of the 507th Maintenance Company were ambushed near Nasiriya. She was the first Native American woman to be killed in action while serving with the U.S. Armed Forces.
