Mark your calendars! It's time to pow wow!

We've put together a great list of a few pow wows happening all over the nation this weekend just for you!

If one of these events are located in your area, we highly recommend heading over to enjoy some lively dancing and drumming, thrilling musical performances, and delicious, authentic foods!

Salt River Veterans Recognition Pow Wow, Arizona

When & Where: April 12 – 14 at the Salt River Ball Field in Salt River, Arizona.

This pow wow honors and recognizes our veterans and all veteran groups and organizations are welcome to attend. Master of Ceremonies, Dennis Bowen Sr., will lead the way while dancers participate in categories including straight dance, golden age, jr. fancy boys, jr. jingle dress girls, and more! Sixth Annual San Juan College Contest Pow Wow, New Mexico

When & Where: April 12 – 13 at the San Juan County Fairgrounds in Farmington, New Mexico.

Doors open at 3 p.m. on Friday and at 9 a.m. on Saturday. There will be several gourd dances throughout the weekend lead by Head Gourd Dancer, Vernon Willie. Admission is $6 for adults and free for children and elders. For more information about this event, click here

Festival of Wild Onions 2013, Illinois

When & Where: April 13 – 14 at the Vinyard Indian Settlement in Herod, Illinois

Hosted by Vinyard Indian Settlement (VIS), the Festival of Wild Onions is celebrating its third year. According to their website, members and guest will gather together to prepare wild onions for a traditional Shawnee meal. VIS requests that all participants bring an additional authentic Native American dish for the weekend feast. For more information about this event, click here.

42nd Annual RSU Graduation Honor Pow Wow, Oklahoma    

When & Where: April 13 at the Bushyhead Field House in Claremore, Oklahoma         

Festivities kick off at 2 p.m. of Friday with gourd dancing. Hosted by the university's NASA, the pow wow aim to "promote a better understanding of American Indian students at this school, to use our resources and talents to promote good will and fellowship, to hold cultural and educational activities for the enrichment of RSU students and the surrounding communities, and to support RSU's  Native students in their educational endeavors." University of Iowa 20th Anniversary Pow Wow, Iowa  

When & Where: April 13 – 14 at the University of Iowa Athletic Building in Iowa City, Iowa.

The University of Iowa invites all to join them in celebrating two decades of "dance and drum competition, and food, arts and craft vendors hosted by UI American Indian Student Association." Special performances for the weekend include Men's Northern Traditional, Women's Applique, 1-Man Hand Drum Contest, and Youth Hand Drum (max 5 people - Male/Female). Admission is $10 on Saturday and $15 on Sunday for adults, $5 and $8 for children and elders. For more information about this event, click here
