Ready to get your pow wow on this weekend?

We've put together a great list of a few pow wows happening all over the nation this weekend just for you!

If one of these events is located in your area, we highly recommend heading over to enjoy some lively dancing and drumming, thrilling musical performances, and delicious, authentic foods!

42nd Annual First Nations at the University of Washington Spring Pow Wow, Washington
When & Where: April 19 – 21 at the HEC Edmundson Pavilion in Seattle, Washington.
As the largest student-run event on UW’s campus, the Spring Pow Wow gathers an average of 8000 people each year. Grand Entries are at 7 p.m. on Friday, 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free but the hosts recommend bringing some spending money to enjoy and “support the Native American artists that will be selling their work as well as buying concessions (Indian Tacos) sold by First Nations.” For more information about this event, click here.

48th Annual Haliwa-Saponi Indian Tribe Pow Wow, North Carolina
When & Where: April 19 – 21 at the Haliwa-Saponi Tribal School Pow-Wow Grounds in Hollister, North Carolina.
Deemed the oldest pow wow in North Carolina, Haliwa-Saponi Indian Tribe Pow Wow is chock full of festivities. Throughout the weekend dancers will compete in categories including grass, jingle, fancy, and more! On Saturday an art contest will begin at 10 a.m. featuring tribal artists such as Arnold Richardson, Flutist, Henry Lynch, Carver, Brian Lynch, Silversmith, and others. Southern Miss Pow Wow, Mississippi
When & Where: April 19 at the University of Southern Mississippi Payne Center in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Festivities will begin Friday at 10 a.m. with a “school day.” According to their site, “Local school children will be invited to listen to stories, play stickball, watch social dances, make corn husk dolls and bear claw necklaces, learn about native plants and meet social and powwow dancers.” There will be gourd and pow wow dancing throughout the weekend as well. Sixth Annual Benefit Pow Wow, New Mexico
When & Where: April 20 at the Rio Rancho High School in Rio Rancho, New Mexico
From 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday attendees of the Rio Rancho High School Pow Wow will enjoy gourd dancers, authentic Native American arts and crafts, and other incredible activities. A percentage of the proceeds are used to fund the Native American Summer Academy, a program designed to integrate Native American culture with core subject areas.
