Kahnawà:ke Iroquois Lacrosse Festival, Tewa'á:raton Rotinonhsón:ni
The Third Annual Kahnawà:ke Iroquois Lacrosse Festival, Tewa'á:raton Rotinonhsón:ni, is set for June 21-28 at the Kahnawà:ke Sports Complex. The festival celebrates the Creator's Game and gets youth involved to learn about the sport and develop their skills.
On Friday, June 21, an evening festival opening celebration and traditional social will be held. The jamboree weekend, June 22-23, will feature a youth box lacrosse tournament, field LAX games and equipment displays by leading vendors. Additionally, there will be traditional food and crafts available, health and wellness promotions, family activities and raffles.
A youth skills development camp will be held June 24-28 with all-star Iroquois coaches from across the Confederacy taking part. Kedoh Hill and four Thompsons--Jeremy, Lyle, Miles, Jerome--are among those who will help teach kids at the camp. (Lyle Thompson is a finalist for the Tewa'á:raton Award, which will be announced May 30.)
On Wednesday, June 26, a traditional potluck and social will be held. The following day, an Iroquois "Pro" All-Star Game will be played.
