Two Onondaga C.C. Lacrosse Players From Six Nations Earn MVP Awards
Onondaga Community College lacrosse players Randy Staats and Warren Hill were voted players of the year by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association. Staats, who is an attackman, was selected as the offensive player of the year. Hill, who is a goalie, was chosen defensive player of the year. Last month they helped lead the Lazers to their fifth consecutive national championship, their seventh since 2006, and a college lacrosse record 70 consecutive wins.
Staats, a sophomore from Six Nations in Canada, led the NJCAA in scoring with 156 points this year. He will attend Syracuse University in the fall.
Hill, a freshman from Six Nations in Canada, was named to the All-World Team as a member of the Iroquois Nationals squad that won bronze at last year's U19 World Lacrosse Championships.
Onondaga Community College is home to the seven-time NJCAA national champion men’s lacrosse team and the two-time NJCAA national champion women’s lacrosse team. The men’s team won its fifth consecutive national title in 2013. The women last won the national title in 2012. For more about OCC Lazers Athletics, click here.
