Power forward Damen Bell-Holter, Haida, had expected to begin his professional basketball career in Germany when he got a more exciting offer: The Boston Celtics have invited him to training camp.

Originally from the town of Hydaburg, Alaska, Bell-Holter bid auf Wiedersehen to Germany (according to a report at Masslive, he had actually been cut by Telekom Bsk) and is currently in Boston working out and looking to impress at the Celtics' camp, which begins October 1.

For Bell-Holter, who stands 6'10" and weighs in at 250 pounds, the idea of playing power forward for the Celtics has special personal appeal. His favorite player in the NBA has been Kevin Garnett, who played forward for the Celtics until leaving the team this summer for the Brooklyn Nets. "Growing up, KG was my guy," Bell-Holter told the Alaska Sports Blog. "Even though he’s not there, going to training camp with a bunch of guys I’ve watched on TV is still really cool."

Bell-Holter played at Oral Roberts University, where he averaged 15.5 points in 32.5 minutes per game during the 2012-13 season. Here he is making an epic game-winning shot against University of Arkansas-Little Rock:
