As pow wow season begins to wind down, ICTMN is reporting on three events held by the Nottoway Indian Tribe of Virginia, Chickahominy Tribe and the Meherrin Tribal Nation.

According to Chief Lynette Allston of the Nottoway tribe, the important takeaway from her pow wow, which happens annually at the end of September in Surry County, Virginia, is that it is important to celebrate Native culture and “ust be together.”

Very Nice. I must say I respect the people of these tribes there in Virginia as well as the Northeast and some in the Carolinas who have had a long struggle to maintain their Native Heritage. Chief Lynette Alston is an outstanding woman and represents the Nottoway People with great pride. I am glad for their Recognition. Plecker......these people have and will have the last word. The Creator never forgets.
