T.J. Oshie, standout NHL forward of the St. Louis Blues, will join 24 other NHL players representing Team USA in the 2014 Olympic games.

Oshie, Ojibwe from Warroad, Minnesota, becomes the first former Sioux Falls Stampede player to play for Team USA in the Olympic Games. Oshie skated with the Herd during the 2004-05 season.

On Twitter, Oshie, 27, said, “Couldn't be more proud and excited to wear the Red, White and Blue sweater in #Sochi2014. What an honor!! #TeamUSA.”

This season, the 5’11, 189-pound forward ranks second on the Blues with 33 points, including 27 assists. Oshie has dressed for 331 games during his six-year NHL career, accumulating 228 points (76 goals, 152 assists) and 160 penalty minutes.

After Sioux Falls, Oshie played from 2005 to 2008 at the University of North Dakota. He was selected 24th overall by St. Louis during the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Members of the U.S. Men’s Hockey Team were selected following the Winter Classic Hockey Game in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and will represent the USA in Sochi, Russia in February.
