In Navajo there is no such term, specifically, as Earth Day. This is perhaps because to many Indigenous Peoples, every day is Earth Day. Earth Day was partly conceptualized after the famous public service announcement starring Iron Eyes Cody, an Italian actor who ended up embracing Native causes, as the “crying Indian” standing next to a pile of litter flung from a car passing on the highway.

That said, there is a way to say Earth Day in Navajo. It is just phrased differently, and combined with the cadence of the Navajo language, it is as melodious as our love for our Mother. This video below will demonstrate.

Yet another reason, perhaps, to be positive this Earth Day, as awareness continues to grow.
