RES DC Continues, Gary Davis to Testify Before SCIA on Encouraging Investment in Indian Country
Yesterday more than 350 tribal leaders, Indian entrepreneurs and federal, state and local officials descended upon Washington, D.C. for the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development's Reservation Economic Summit, June 24-26.
Among the speakers are Bureau of Indian Affairs Assistant Secretary Kevin K. Washburn, a member of the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma; Small Business Administration Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet; and Raina Thiele, a citizen of the Navajo Nation and deputy associate director of the White House Office of Public Engagement.
Gary Davis, an enrolled member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma and NCAIED president and CEO, said "We are very excited to bring Indian Country to DC with our first Reservation Economic Summit in the nation’s capital. Through informative sessions and speakers, our procurement expo, private sector and government networking opportunities, and now with our National Center Edge initiative, we truly do mean business for Indian Country.”
Today at 2:15 p.m. EST, Davis will testify at a Senate Indian Affairs Committee hearing on economic development. The hearing, entitled: Economic Development: Encouraging Investment in Indian Country, will be streamed online here.
