Put Wondo In! Watch Chris Wondolowski Score 56 MLS Goals (Video)
Today, at 4 PM eastern time, the U.S. Men's Soccer Team faces off against Belgium in the knockout round of the World Cup. The team will continue to look for a solution to its personnel issues up front. Striker Jozy Altidore, who went down with a hamstring injury against Ghana, has been declared available, but coach Jurgen Klinsmann has indicated that he will play limited minutes if he takes the field at all. Goal production will need to come from somewhere.
Will that "somewhere" be Indian country?
Natives have rallied behind Chris Wondolowski, the Kiowa soccer star who, in the last minutes of the game against Portugal, became the first American Indian to play on the U.S. Men's National Team in a World Cup.
In Major League Soccer, "Wondo" has been a scoring machine, having won the MLS Golden Boot (scoring title) in 2010 and 2012. Here are some video highlight reels from previous MLS seasons:
MLS 2013: 11 Goals
MLS 2012: 27 Goals
MLS 2010: 18 Goals
