Whoopi to Redskins Controversy Denier: 'Spoken Like a True White Guy'

The table of gabbers on The View recently found themselves discussing the power of language and labels, and the conversation ended up as a one-on-one between Whoopi Goldberg and that day's guest, conservative commentator Will Cain.

Goldberg said that groups have the right to stand up and say that a term is hurtful, and cited the example of the Washington Redskins.

Cain shot back, "Everyone's offended all the time, from the Fighting Irish to the Redskins..."

Goldberg's response: "Spoken like a true white guy."

(And as an aside: Oh no he didn't. He did not just try to draw the false equivalence between Indian mascots and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.)

There used to be a saying, long time ago: "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me". Funny, how one forgets about the sticks and stones, but 50 yrs. later, say, the hateful names still hurt. Thank you, Whoopi Goldberg.
