“Through the athletic talents and accomplishments of Native American athletes such as Angel and Shoni, they’ve united and inspired youth and tribal members, not only in Oklahoma, but across the United States,” said Principal Chief George Tiger of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation in a news release. “Native Americans are showing their pride and appreciation wherever they appear; pride in their accomplishments, and pride in their traditions and cultures. It is a unifying phenomenon that we want to perpetuate.”

Chief Tiger will be joined by Cherokee Principal Chief Bill John Baker and Osage Nation Principal Chief Geoffrey Standing Bear for pregame activities.

This will be the first meeting between the Shock’s second year guard, Angel Goodrich, and the Dream’s rookie sensation guard, Shoni Schimmel. Both were highly recruited following successful collegiate careers at Kansas University and the University of Louisville, respectively. Tipoff is set for Thursday, July 31, at 7 p.m.

Our Phoenix Mercury (22-3) are waiting to battle the boards with Atlanta Dream on Tue. August 5th. The projected temperature of 105 degrees will be matched by the Mercury's hot streak of 15 straight wins! Bring on Showtime Shoni. But as Brittney Griner says, "Who cares about a winning streak if you don't win a championship." Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner and our deep bench are ready, willing and able as we will meet Atlanta Dream two times, Aug. 5 and Aug. 13. Have a great time in Tulsa town tonight !!
