Funding from AARP Foundation has enabled First Nations Development Institute the ability to offer 10 travel scholarships for individuals working in areas of access to food and nutrition among senior populations in Native American communities.

First Nations invites applicants from tribal governments and programs, nonprofits, and community groups. Scholarship recipients will attend the 19th Annual First Nations L.E.A.D. Institute Conference at the Tulalip Resort Casino in Tulalip, Washington September 25-26. Recipients must also attend a pre-conference session on September 24 at the Tulalip Resort Casino. The session will be interactive and focus on developing strategies to end senior hunger in Native communities.

Applicants have until August 6, 2014 to apply here online.

Notification of recipients will be sent by August 15. If chosen, First Nations will cover airfare, registration fees, meals on days of travel, meals not covered during the conference itself, and other reasonable travel-related expenses.
