Challenge accepted.

San Jose Earthquakes striker Chris Wondolowski, Kiowa, took the Ice Bucket Challenge with seven of his teammates to help bring awareness to ALS, a neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.

The challenge has gone viral over social media, and as the New York Times reported, more than $41 million dollars in donations has been raised since July 29.

Wondolowski was challenged by teammate Jordan Stewart, who was previously challenged by a friend that lost her father to the disease.  Wondolowski will also make a donation for ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
