Actress Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical, Spring Breakers, Grease Live) and her rumored boyfriend Austin Butler are under serious fire after posting a Valentine’s Day message on the Rock formations at the Coconino National Forest in Sedona, Arizona to Instagram.

Over the weekend, Hudgins took the Instagram photo of the rock-scratched message with the words ‘Austin + Vanessa’ inside of a heart. Along with the photo, Hudgens posted, ‘Happy Valentine’s Day boo boo bears.’

The post received well over 1,700 responses with a considerable amount of negative rematks before it was ultimately deleted from Hudgen’s Instagram account.

This was not the first time Hudgens has made an insensitive remark toward Native culture as referenced by an earlier instagram post “Pocahontas gettin touched up and loving it. Hahaha”

According to ABC15 news, a spokesperson for the Coconino National Forest Red Rock district says that the matter is under investigation but that they cannot provide any further details other than etching into Sedona's rocks is a "common" and "challenging" problem, and is difficult to enforce since they have to usually catch the person in the act.

According to the Coconino National Forest spokesperson, the maximum penalty for any crime on federal land is a maximum fine of $5,000 or six months in jail.

As of the posting of this article, Hudgens had not responded to the negative comments on Instagram, nor had she or her representatives at Creative Artists Agency (CAA) responded to ICTMN’s request for comments.

Maybe I'm an ignorant old-school Chahtah woman here (I'm 32, class of 2001, former miltary with college education). But when did Native people actually start subscribing to this "we are victims" crud. If anything Natives should be empowered by all the hell our ancestors went through to make sure we could be strong, proud, and free in the future. This "offensive, insensitive" non-sense has to stop. Grow up. Trees die without thick skin (also known as bark). Apparently too many people on this website have no bark.
